Animal Hospital Tour

A small part of the homeschool group went on a tour of the Animal hospital today, so Emily and I joined in! It was a fun and interesting tour. For me the most interesting things were the xrays they showed us (cat that swallowed a sewing needle, and two different dogs with puppies in their bellies!), ALSO, Sher asked what were the most different animals that they had come in to the vet........they had a beaver, BIG snake, some birds, some iguanas, etc......I think the four of us moms, and all the kids had a very enjoyable educational time!

Labor and Delivery stories.....

So Jamie said I should start with my labor stories.....anyone else?

Kaelie: In the very early hours of Aug. 12, 1999 my water broke in bed!!! I had no contractions, but when we called the hospital, they told us to come in. The contractions were fairly light, and I was praying that they would come on their own without me getting any inducing drugs.....and they came! Rolland and I had decided that I didn't want to get an epidural, before ......but when those contractions were one on top of the other I wanted an epidural! BUT, by the time they were going to get me ready for the epidural........it was too late.....time to push! (so keep in mind, when it seems like it is so hard to handle....it might just about be over!!), I pushed for about 20 minutes and after 8 hours of labor....Kaelie Ann was born!

Emily: We had Emily at home, a planned homebirth. We lived in Winnipeg at the time, and midwives were covered under MB healthcare.....so midwives can deliver (legally) at home or in the hospital. After much thought and prayer, I decided I wanted to have a home birth. Rolland was hesitant at first, but very supportive......and doesn't regret our descision. Contractions woke me up about 5 AM, We called the midwife at 6 AM, and i could tell that things were moving VERY FAST.....and I kept saying "i hope she gets here soon".......she arrived at 7 AM with coffee in hand.......and realized she needed to call the second midwife in right away.......who arrived at about 7:30 AM........I didn't have to push Emily out at all! I, in fact, was appologizing for how quickly she was "sliding" out! Emily was born shortly after 8 AM! My mom and Kaelie were there in the house, too. (Jan. 4th, 2002)

Sydnie: I was awakened by contractions with her at about 4 AM, and we went into the hospital at about 6 AM, I could tell that things were moving SLOWLY. At some point the dr. came and offered to break my water to get things moving along.....I accepted (something I never thought I would do), and that got things going! Things moved much quicker after that, so quick in fact that the dr. arrived after her head was already coming out! :) She was born shortly after 11 AM. I didn't have to push with her either. (April 28, 2004)

All fairly good experiences.......so there ya have it......without the gorry details LOL
I guess we'll soon find out what this next experienc will be like!

I kind of got this idea from "carebear's" blog.......Anyone want to share any labor and delivery stories!! I will be happy to share mine, if people are interested! :)

Finished "family room"

This is pretty much the finished product of the main area in our basement. You'll have to excuse the untidyness of it......I didn't tidy it before taking the pic. :) We still have some decluttering to do.......but we think it turned out alright :) Done with basement business! YAY! Well, except Rolland's old office......we need to clean it out ~ and we are working on that.

Married for 9 years and lovin' it!

Rolland and I celebrated 9 years of marriage on February 14th.......however, we didn't go on our date until the Friday (16th).....just worked out that way. We enjoyed getting out together (on our own)~ which doesn't happen all that often. Dinner and a movie!

I decided to throw in my almost 35 weeks pictures! Hard to believe.......on to weekly dr. appt's now! When i was this far along with Kaelie......we moved to Winnipeg. So glad we aren't moving yet!

So I am not a creative thinking person, but at the last minute before lunch , I thought of the cute idea of making Sydnie and Emily heart shaped sandwiches for lunch :) Cute hey! I wish I would of thought of doing it for Kaelie's school lunch. Then they had a picnic in the living room.

I do dress Sydnie, REALLY! She just has a mind of her own I guess.


Rolland have been married for 9 years today! We probably will go out for a fast food supper tonight as a family, then Rolland and I will go on a date on Friday night!

Valentines baking begins......

Emily, Sydnie and I started baking some Valentine cookies today. We'll do a bit more with Kaelie tomorrow, because we want to take them to a few different places......Sunday school, the women's shelter, and to Kaelie's school! I must explain....to those who look closely at details......Sydnie was dressed, but she had decided to throw a night gown on top of her clothes!?!?

The new office......completed!

CARPET!!

Rolland and his friend David, layed the carpet this afternoon! You'll have to excuse the odds and ends stuff in the picture........but it is soooo coming together! The carpet looks nicer in real life :) It's a grey and white burbur carpet. This first picture is the main "rec room" area, the second picture is taken from the far wall towards the "new office". I think it looks great. It's certainly a nicer basement than it was when we first moved in! I am sure I will post more pics eventually.....but I was so excited that this next step was done, I just had to post it!

We put my parents to work!!! Cheap labor ;)

I am truly thankful that my parents came to help this last weekend, Rolland is too!! They worked SOOOO hard, and got a lot done, and took a lot off of our shoulders! The girls and I stayed out of the way, and out of the house both Friday and Saturday ALL day! We even cooked suppers at the church building........just to stay clear of all the painting. It worked out well, I think :) They got our whole upstairs painted. There are some trims that still need some painting but the walls are ALL done! All three bedrooms, bathroom, hallway, living room, and kitchen! It's amazing how nice a couple of coats of paint can make a home look! I love it! We just went with basic nuetral colors because of selling it in a few months. We left the burgandy wall burgandy.......





OOPS!!!! :)


Don't know why we don't have much pictures of my dad painting, he's the professional painter! LOL But everyone did a great job!! The kitchen and most of the living room, painted white, the hallway and bathroom a beige color, the bedrooms is supposed to be a light beigey color too.......at some angles it looks like that, and at other angles it has a bit of a pink tint to it, but I think it does look good.

More renovation pics!

I would of posted this sooner, because it has been done for a bit now, but my parents were on there way here this past weekend to help us paint here, and we wanted to surprise them how much was already done! :) And they were surprised.......truthfully the whole basement was completely painted when they got here.......but we still put them to work! And they worked super hard! But in the pics Rolland is painting the "new office", and stippling the ceiling, which we learned makes a big mess!! And Kaelie showing off the new room! ALL DONE, well, except for baseboards, and doors.......but that will happen this week, i am sure. The rest of the basement, we have to lay carpet and do baseboards, but I think Rolland will be working on it this afternoon!
